My father had a beard for most of my childhood, and I had always wanted one as long as I can remember. The fact that I'm going into astrophysics also sort of makes having a full beard a necessity. Anybody who knows me well will testify that I've developed quite an interest in the beardly arts, and I couldn't be happier for it.

How do I feel about my beard? Well, I'm still pretty young -- only nineteen. So even though I have a few problems with my own beard, it gets better all the time and with every fresh re-growing, and I can sort of check them off my list of beard issues. At present, I just wish my cheeks were fuller -- it's basically the only real weak spot left in my beard. Previously there wasn't much hair on the front of my chin and my mustache left a lot to be desired, but these have started to fill in to my satisfaction.
Although I always regret shaving at all since I feel the full beard look is for me, I do like to experiment with different styles from time to time, though at present I'm trying to achieve terminal length--three weeks in and going strong. At the time of this picture I think I'd been growing for about three months.
