I grew my beard because I was initially inspired by the character of Commander William Riker, portrayed by actor Jonathan Frakes, on "Star Trek: The Next Generation".

How do I feel about my beard? It suits my character. I'm an academic at heart and by trade. So, my beard goes nicely with my glasses and the shelves upon shelves of books I'm constantly surrounded by.
