What led you to the web site all about beards / beards.org?

When my beard was in the process of growing, I was clueless on how to care for my beard as I have never had more than a little stubble. A quick Google search on grooming tips for a beard led me to beards.org

How did the “all about beards” site influence your decisions related to growing your beard?

At first I decided to grow my beard to a heavy stubble and keep it trimmed. Then, I saw some fantastic beards on beards.org which inspired me to push past my limits and grow a full-fledged beard.

Was the site’s information on growing a beard helpful to you?

Absolutely.

Was the site’s information on beard grooming useful?

Without a doubt.

Once you started growing your beard, did you ever have thoughts of giving up the effort? Did the site help you to keep growing?

Once I started getting to the point of the unbearable itch, I thought about shaving it for a few days. On top of the itch, I had my lovely girlfriend telling me everyday to shave off my beard. But, nonetheless, all the disapproval and itching made me want to grow it more and more. My final decision to turn into a permanent beard grower came when I was browsing the gallery on beards.org and saw some really amazing beards.

Did you enjoy the beard-growing process?

Watching my beard turn into what it is today was very interesting, to say the least. At first you don’t even notice it. And then, in no time at all, your physical appearance changes dramatically.

What has it been like to see yourself transform into a bearded man?

Personally, I believe its been a true test of character and will.

You’ve grown a full beard. How did you select this style?

Truthfully, at first, I just wanted to let it grow and see what would happen. Then, my beard started to form somewhat of a round shape and from that point on, I felt as if my beard had made up its mind about what shape it wanted to be presented in.

How do you like being a full-bearded man?

The honest answer would be I feel like I’ve attained mythical powers. But all jokes aside, not everyone can grow a full beard and I feel like if you have this gift, you shouldn’t let it go to waste and shave off something your body was destined to have.

What made you into a dedicated, permanent beard grower?

Some of the guys on the beards.org gallery inspired me. And once I started to see how I looked with a beard, I made up my mind.

What does having a full beard mean to you?

Having a full beard, in all honesty, made me understand how people think a little better. Some people are disgusted by beards because they can make some individuals look unkempt. Yet to us individuals with beards, most of us know the work it takes to maintain a full beard and we can smile down at the beardless people who decide to conform to society and shave their faces so they can look the way everyone thinks they should look. Having a beard also has given me a sense of pride and has made me feel more like a rugged individual.

Has your beard met your expectations?

My beard hasnt yet met my expectations, but I expect it to with a little more patience and care.

What do you think is needed for your beard to meet your expectations?

I think a little more length and thickness would help.

How did you choose how to handle your full beard’s neck line and cheek line?

After researching beard neck and cheek lines, it convinced me to come up with my own cheek and neck line. After experimenting with different types, I finally came up what I have now.

How do you feel about how your beard has turned out?

I feel it has turned out better than I imagined and I’m always looking for ways to improve and shape my beard.

How do other people react to your beard? How do you feel about their reactions?

Every once in a while when I’m out and about, I catch people staring at me with a weird look on their face. The look is more along the lines of, “Oh my God, look at that guy. He looks like a caveman”. And although everyone is entitled to their opinion I feel some people are jealous and maybe even quick to judge a bearded individual because they can’t understand why someone would want to be different from the rest of the world and show off one of the reasons they are unique.

Based on your beard-growing experience, would you recommend to others that they grow a full beard?

I would say if you can grow a beard, do it. Growing a beard makes you feel different and look different. Some beards command respect due to the sheer amount of effort some people put into making their beard look great. Growing a beard is truly a test of character and I feel not enough individuals are stepping up to the responsibility of growing their beard.

Do you know if growing your beard has influenced others to grow their beards?

I can’t say that I have immediately affected anyone, but hope that anyone reading this will step up to the plate and grow a beard.

How do you feel about sharing your beard success story on beards.org?

I feel like I get to share my story with many other men who may or may not have doubts about their beards. I hope it will offer some positive reinforcement to anyone thinking about quitting and shaving their beard or someone unsure of whether they should grow one.

What do you think about beards.org?

I think it’s a great site full of good information. But the heart of beards.org lies deep within its community of dedicated beard growers and all the fantastic beards that everyone has shared with the world.
